Back Home

Combine 10 days on the road, a 100 lb touring bike, 650 miles of riding and you have a heck of a vacation. I'm back. More to come as I sort through the 500 photos and try to recall the details.

100lbs, eh? Same stuff in your list below, or more?

I'm suprised it weighed out this heavy. My monster moterized xtracycle gravel tourer weighed in at 120lbs loaded, 80lbs empty. Granted I'm not carrying a laptop or chargers of any sort, and I've simplified my clothing a bit, but I'm carrying a motor and spare fuel, stove, ect.

Pretty much that same list I posted. No laptop, a few more bike clothes. I ran no front panniers at all for RAGBRAI. I had the tent and sleeping bag on front, along with the stuff in the handlebar bag. Everything else was on back in the Tailrider and the GT-54 bags.
All of the bags weigh close to 10 lbs empty. The Surly racks are 4.5 lbs with the mounting hardware.

Huh, must be the clothes. Or were you porting extra bevys in there?

Those Surly racks are nice.
